Vincent Starrett (1886-1974) was an American writer and poet who is perhaps best known for his mystery novels and his association with the literary group, the Chicago Renaissance. He was a prolific writer and produced many works of fiction and non-fiction over the course of his career. Starrett was also a noted book collector and an expert on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle, and he wrote extensively on the subject of Sherlock Holmes. His poetry was characterized by a keen sense of observation and a love of language.
