On Donne’s Poetry
“With Donne, whose muse on dromedary trots,
Wreathe iron pokers into true-love knots ;
Rhyme’s sturdy cripple, fancy’s maze and clue,
Wit’s forge and fire-blast, meaning’s press and screw.”
Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) was an English poet and philosopher who is known for his works that explore themes of nature, the supernatural, and the human imagination. He was a leading figure in the Romantic movement and his works, including "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and "Kubla Khan," continue to be celebrated for their lyrical beauty and imaginative power.
