For a Statue of Napoleon
A conqueror as provident as brave,
He robbed the cradle to supply the grave.

Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914) was an American writer and journalist who was also a poet. He was known for his use of satire and his exploration of the darker side of human nature in his poetry. Some of his famous works include "The Devil's Dictionary" and "Black Beetles in Amber."
