The Bath-Tub
As a bathtub lined with white porcelain,
When the hot water gives out or goes tepid,
So is the slow cooling of our chivalrous passion,
O my much praised but-not-altogether-satisfactory lady.
Ezra Pound (1885-1972) was an American poet and critic who was a leading figure in the Modernist movement. His works include the epic poem "The Cantos" and the collection "Personae," and he was a key supporter of other writers such as T.S. Eliot and James Joyce. Pound was also a vocal supporter of Fascism during the 1930s, which led to his imprisonment for treason during World War II.
