A Suggestion to My Friend, Liu
There’s a gleam of green in an old bottle,
There’s a stir of red in the quiet stove,
There’s a feeling of snow in the dusk outside —
What about a cup of wine inside?
Bai Juyi (772-846) was a Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty known for his simple, direct style and his focus on everyday life and common people. His poetry often dealt with themes of love, friendship, and social justice, and he is considered one of the greatest poets in Chinese history. Some of his notable works include "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow" and "A Pipa Song".
