When Horses Die
When horses die, they breathe
When grasses die, they wither,
When suns die, they go out,
When people die, they sing songs.
Velimir Khlebnikov (1885-1922) was a Russian poet and playwright associated with the Russian Futurist movement. Khlebnikov's poetry is characterized by its innovative language and use of sound and rhythm. He sought to create a new language that would break free from the constraints of traditional literary forms. Khlebnikov was also interested in the occult and wrote extensively on mystical and esoteric topics. He was a major influence on the Russian avant-garde and is considered one of the most important Russian poets of the 20th century.
