Love Thy Neighbor
Love thy neighbor, to Christ be leal!
Crush him never with iron-heel,
Though in the dust he’s lying!
All the living responsive await
Love with power to recreate,
Needing alone the trying.
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832-1910) was a Norwegian writer and poet who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1903. He is known for his works that explore the struggles of rural Norwegian life and the clash between tradition and modernity. Some of his notable works include "A Happy Boy", "The Fisher Maiden", and "Beyond Human Might".
